Local Description

You can all stop lamenting the demise of 2013's The New Zealand Art Activity Book because Te Papa Press have just released a new edition and it's excellent. Over 100 brand new activities, 15 brand new artworks by New Zealand artists and 50 other historical and contemporary artworks from Te Papa's collection.

There are activities that will really make you think - about art, about yourself, and about society. Some will take hours, some will make a big mess and some will make you laugh. There's a page at the front to fill in your name and age but I suspect this will also be a favourite with teachers - it will keep your class busy all year - and there's a handy glossary of art terms, Maori, Pasifika and Asian words used throughout the book, and a detailed list of all the artworks.

With its huge range of styles, techniques and media, there's something in here for everyone - from little ones to grandads.

- Lucy
