I am the youngest of 4 children and grew up in Auckland. Growing up, my parents moved houses a lot, so I went to eight different primary schools throughout the Auckland Region, finishing with five years at Epsom Girls Grammar. Then to Auckland University where I completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Some years later I completed a Diploma with excellence in Writing Stories for Children from the NZ Institute of Business Studies.
Throughout my life I've had a number of different jobs, studied Art, Drama and Music, but I've always had a love and passion for writing. When I was at school I won various little prizes for my poetry and prose, however it is only now, later in my life that I am pursuing my dream of being a professional Children's writer. In 2015 I won the coveted Storylines Joy Cowley Award, for my debut picture book `Witch's Cat Wanted Apply Within', followed by a Storylines Notable book award in 2017.
After living for six years in Whangarei, then seven years in Napier, I've now returned to Auckland living at Arkles Bay on the beautiful Whangaparaoa Peninsular with my husband and little scruffy black dog named Charlie. My writing sanctuary is a little desk overlooking the sparkling waters, and ever-changing views of the Hauraki Gulf. It's a great place to sit back, imagine and conjure up my next story!
