Nyxia (Nyxia Triad #1)
Nyxia is an incredibly enjoyable read and I highly recommend it.
A powerful company called Babel has taken over Google. Babel has secretly discovered a new habitable planet; Eden, and on it the most valuable substance in the world; Nyxia. Babel have recruited ten teenagers from different countries to travel to Eden and mine for Nyxia. In return they have promised these teenagers financial security for them and their families for the rest of their lives. But everything with Babel is a game and the group of ten must compete and train every day of their year-long journey to Eden in order to win, and survive.
Similar to competitive, sci-fi, survival stories such as The Hunger Games, Nyxia is full of high-stakes competition, never-ending twists, and advancements in technology and science that are as much fascinating as they are terrifying. Nyxia never has a boring moment and I can imagine it being made into a movie in the future. Plus, Nyxia is part of a trilogy with the second book being released in July this year.
Suitable for 13+
Every life has a price in Scott Reintgen pulse-pounding new sci-fi adventure, Nyxia, as a group of teens are taken to the far reaches of the universe and forced to decide what they're willing to risk for a lifetime of fortune.
Emmett Atwater isn't just leaving Detroit; he's leaving Earth. Why the Babel Corporation recruited him is a mystery, but the number of zeroes on their contract has him boarding their lightship and hoping to return to Earth with enough money to take care of his family. Forever. Before long, Emmett discovers that he is one of ten recruits, all of whom have troubled pasts and are a long way from home. Now each recruit must earn the right to travel down to the planet of Eden-a planet that Babel has kept hidden-where they will mine a substance called Nyxia that has quietly become the most valuable material in the universe. But Babel's ship is full of secrets. And Emmett will face the ultimate choice: win the fortune at any cost, or find a way to fight that won't forever compromise what it means to be human.
