Author(s): René Goscinny; Albert Uderzo

Tintin and Asterix

In ancient Rome, the slaves are rebelling—and they’ve even stolen Julius Caesar’s own warship, the finest in the Roman navy. Under the heroic leadership of Spartakis, the former galley slaves make for the small town where Caesar’s old enemies Asterix and Obelix live. Now everyone must sail to the wonderful continent of Atlantis to find a cure. But, the Romans are on the ocean blue, too...and the battles are about to come fast and furiously.

The Asterix books represent the very summit of our achievement as a literary race. In Asterix one finds all of human life. The fact that the books were written originally in French is no matter. I have read them all in many languages and, like all great literature, they are best in English. Anthea Bell and Derek Hockridge, Asterix's translators since the very beginning, have made great books into eternal flames. THE TIMES"
