Ruth's Review:

Tana and his mates are at the sports ground for their first Team Two rugby training session when lightning strikes. Zapped!  This ragtag bunch of boys and girls are thrilled to discover that they have suddenly developed new superpowers - along with the sheep nearby that start flying past them.

But the downside is that their new abilities will only last for the length of a rugby game. Calling themselves The Invincibles, they find that their X-ray vision and super hearing skills come in very handy. Overhearing ex All Great fullback Tricky Ricky, who is now reduced to doing TV commercials for a toilet company, plotting to sabotage his former team's chances in a big game, The Invincibles fly to the rescue, but will they be in time to save the national squad before their 80 minutes of superpowerdom run out?

There is a dearth of rugby fiction for children, so this first book in Millett's new illustrated series will fill a very much needed gap, even though it is more focused on the superhero angle than the sport. Great dialogue, lots of banter, plenty of puns and scatalogical humour will ensure it scores with readers aged 7+ while also engaging older non-readers.
