Based on a true story. Flying into the snow-clad Southern Alps in deepest winter, Dobby is lost when his master Zane takes him hunting. He gets snagged in scrub and is trapped. Zane must leave without him. Dobby survives seven freezing nights in the wild before Zane returns, finding him with two kea. It's thought they may have helped him.
