Sarah has been a primary teacher for over 20 years, based in Wellington, New Zealand.

She has always had a passion for Māori culture and nothing motivates her more than her three beautiful children and husband who are of Māori descent.
Sarah drives many of the Māori cultural events and activities at the schools she is with and encourages her children to embrace their culture by speaking Māori in the home and getting involved with Kapa Haka.
Writing this book brings together her passions of family, culture and writing in an effort to educate future generations of this important historical event told in a unique and engaging way.

Lesh is an illustrative artist in Wellington. Her designs are nature inspired and painted with Acrylic and Indian ink.

Lesh read Sarah’s story and loved the themes of family, culture and history.
They have collaborated together and bringing Sarah’s vision to life was a wonderful experience for Lesh.
