Chile Bird and the True Story of a Royal Albatross

Author(s): Diane Miller & Sheryl Black

NZ Picture Books | 03 - October | Birds | NZ Non Fiction

Chile Bird is based on the true story of a Northern Royal Albatross. The story follows the typical life cycle of the bird, but this story differs as the bird is rescued by a fisherman near Chile and is cared for by the children in a small fishing village, Duao. Chile Bird, as she is then known, returns to the life of a wild seabird, facing other hazards at sea, before returning home to find a partner and the next stage in her life. Included at the back of the book are two pages of extra facts about Albatross.
